Jammu, June 9:

BJP OBC Morcha on Tuesday organised cleanliness drives at multiple locations across Jammu & Kashmir as part of its commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission and the vision of a clean and healthy India.

The cleanliness campaigns were held in Baramulla, Jammu, Pahari Zila Basohli-Bani and Nowshera-Sunderbani areas of Rajouri district. The programmes were organised by local BJP OBC Morcha units under the supervision of district leadership and witnessed participation from party workers, senior BJP leaders, local residents and prominent citizens.

In Baramulla, the drive was conducted at Khadinyar, while in Jammu district, party workers carried out a cleanliness campaign at Shaheedi Chowk. Similar programmes were organised at the ancient Shiv Temple in Village Mara and Nagrota Chowk in Basohli-Bani, and at Khawas Mandal and Masjid Sagwarat in Darhal area of Rajouri district.

During the drives, participants cleaned public spaces, roadsides, temple premises, mosque surroundings and other community areas using brooms and sanitation tools. Volunteers also interacted with local residents and spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and environmental responsibility.

Addressing the participants, BJP leaders said cleanliness is not just a government initiative but a collective social responsibility that requires active public participation. They stressed that maintaining clean surroundings contributes significantly to public health, environmental conservation and overall community well-being.

The leaders also highlighted the impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission, stating that the campaign has transformed cleanliness into a mass movement across the country and encouraged citizens to take ownership of public spaces.

BJP OBC Morcha Jammu & Kashmir President Braham Jyot Satti appreciated the efforts of district and mandal teams for successfully organising the programmes across various locations. He reiterated the Morcha’s commitment towards sanitation, environmental protection and civic awareness.

He urged citizens to actively participate in cleanliness initiatives and contribute towards keeping public places, religious sites and neighbourhoods clean. He also called upon party workers to continue taking such awareness programmes to the grassroots level.

Several BJP leaders and office bearers attended the programmes at different locations across Jammu & Kashmir.

The cleanliness drives concluded with participants taking a pledge to continue promoting sanitation, environmental awareness and public participation in social welfare activities across the Union Territory.
