Jammu,

In a major push for grassroots development, Smt. Leela Thakur, Vice President of the BJP Block Rajgarh (District Ramban), accompanied by her husband, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.

During the high-profile meeting, Thakur presented a detailed representation seeking the immediate intervention of the LG administration to address several critical, long-pending public welfare and infrastructure issues plaguing the residents of Tehsil Rajgarh.

Key Grievances Highlighted in the Representation:

  • Deplorable Health Infrastructure: The local delegation flagged that the Government Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Rajgarh fails to function round-the-clock. Thakur demanded its immediate upgradation to a 24-hour facility equipped with adequate doctors, paramedical staff, essential medicines, and emergency ambulance services.

  • Gaps in Jal Jeevan Mission Implementation: The memorandum raised serious concerns over the execution of the centrally sponsored Jal Jeevan Mission in Rajgarh. Many households remain deprived of tap water connections due to incomplete or defective works.

  • Educational Upgradation and Staff Shortage: Immediate upgradation of Government Middle School Hiller (Panchayat Jhatgalli-B) to a High School was requested to save children from traveling long distances. Additionally, an acute shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff at the Senior Secondary School in Panchayat Jhatgalli-A was brought to notice.

  • Neglect by Baglihar Power Project: Despite a major power project operating in the region, locals have reportedly seen no tangible development, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, or employment benefits.

  • Lack of Compensation for Flood Victims: The delegation sought immediate assessment and release of relief funds for families who lost their land and residential properties to devastating floods.

  • Power & Safety Hazards: The immediate establishment of a Grid Station was demanded alongside the relocation of high-tension (HT) power lines running through agricultural lands, which have already caused human and animal casualties due to electrocution.

  • Essential Services and Infrastructure: The representation further urged the administration to fix local road connectivity (specifically the Deswal to Jhatgalli-A route via Goragalli), open new Fair Price Shops, renovate the dilapidated Jhatgalli irrigation canal, establish an Animal Husbandry Centre in Jhatgalli-B, and streamline the supply of regulated Deodar timber to local residents.

“Due to a lack of interest from the local authorities, essential developmental works in Rajgarh Tehsil have been severely stalled. We have requested Hon’ble LG Manoj Sinha to issue direct orders to the Chief Secretary and administrative heads for time-bound redressal.”
