Strategic Importance
Political analysts view this restructuring as a strategic attempt by the Congress to consolidate the “Kisan” (farmer) vote bank ahead of upcoming political challenges in the region. By appointing local leaders with direct ties to the farming community, the party hopes to address core issues such as Minimum Support Price (MSP), irrigation infrastructure, and land rights.
“The appointments are a part of our commitment to stand with the farmers of J&K. These leaders will be the bridge between the agrarian community and the party’s national leadership,” stated a representative from the AICC.
