Ramban, August 25: District Police Ramban has arrested an accused who had been evading arrest for nearly 23 years in connection with a case registered at Police Station Batote.

The accused, identified as Inder Singh, son of Mool Singh, resident of Makhanpur, Tehsil R.S. Pura, District Jammu, was arrested in Jammu on August 24 by a police team headed by ASI Ravinder Kumar Sharma.

According to police, Singh was wanted in FIR No. 158/2003 registered at Police Station Batote under Sections 279 and 337 RPC and Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act. He had been evading arrest since 2011.

An arrest warrant under Section 512 RPC, now corresponding to Section 335 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), had also been issued against him by the Hon’ble Sessions Court, Ramban.

The arrest was made as part of District Police Ramban’s ongoing drive to trace and apprehend absconders and proclaimed offenders and ensure that those evading the process of law are brought before the competent court.
