Jammu, June 25:
Acting on the directions of SSP Poonch Shafket Hussain, Addl. SP Poonch Dr. Ajay Sharma visited Sub-Division Mendhar to review the security situation, interact with community representatives and youth, and assess the operational preparedness of police personnel.
During the visit, Dr. Sharma chaired a Peace Committee meeting at Police Station Mendhar, attended by members of different religious communities and senior police officers. He urged everyone to maintain communal harmony, brotherhood and peace, especially during the ongoing Moharram observances. Community representatives assured the police of their full cooperation in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
The Addl. SP also visited the Dr. Masood Choudhary Memorial Cricket Tournament at OP Hill Ground, Mendhar, where he interacted with participating youth and spectators. He highlighted the importance of sports in promoting discipline and a healthy lifestyle and encouraged young people to stay away from drugs and other social evils. He also appealed to them to share information about any anti-social or unlawful activities and motivated them to join the police and security forces.
Later, Dr. Sharma visited Police Post Mankote and reviewed the operational readiness of personnel from SOG Mendhar, SOG Gursai and SOG Mankote. He directed the officers to remain vigilant, strengthen coordination with other security agencies, improve intelligence gathering and ensure a quick response to any emerging security challenges.
The visit reflected the commitment of District Police Poonch to strengthening police-public relations, promoting communal harmony, engaging youth in positive activities and ensuring robust security across the district.
