JAMMU, MAR 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) organized a mesmerizing musical program, Lal Wakh, at K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu, to pay tribute to the revered 14th-century Kashmiri mystic poetess, Lal Ded, also known as Lalleshwari on Thursday.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the event was graced by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Dr. Arvind Karwani as the Chief Guest, while JKAACL Secretary Harvinder Kour attended as the Guest of Honour. In his address, Dr. Karwani highlighted Lal Ded’s profound influence on Kashmiri culture and spirituality, emphasizing the importance of preserving her literary heritage. He also commended the artists and musicians for their heartfelt performances.
The program, designed under the guidance of Secretary JKAACL, featured soulful recitations of Lal Vakhs (verses) by renowned vocalists Dr. Deepali Watal and Naina Saproo. Young artists Shivani and Sharat also captivated the audience with their melodious renditions. They were accompanied by talented musicians, including Rahul Sharma on Santoor, Amit Anand on Tabla, Amit Sharma on Rabab, Chandan on Synthesizer, and Dr. Ramesh Nirash on Harmonium, adding depth and emotion to the performances.
The event was conducted by esteemed writer Vijay Walli, who provided insightful narration, keeping the audience engaged throughout the evening. JKAACL reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural and literary heritage through such initiatives, ensuring that Lal Ded’s timeless wisdom continues to inspire generations.
