SRINAGAR, MAR 05: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 30 percent above-average rainfall over the past five days, leading to a significant rise in the water levels of river Jhelum and other streams. The Meteorological Department has predicted another spell of precipitation starting March 10.

Nine stations, including Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Doda, Kupwara, Pulwama, Rajouri, Shopian, and Udhampur, also experienced excess rainfall, ranging between 20 and 59 percent above normal.

However, Reasi, Samba, and Kathua recorded a rainfall deficit during this period. Meanwhile, Ramban, Kishtwar, and Bandipora witnessed significantly high precipitation levels. Other districts, including Anantnag, Ganderbal, Jammu, Kulgam, and Poonch, received normal rainfall.

The recent wet spell has helped recharge water bodies across Kashmir. According to official data, the water level in river Jhelum at Ram Munshi Bagh stood at 4.47 feet on Tuesday evening, indicating a rise. Several other streams in the region also saw an increase in water levels due to continuous precipitation.

The Meteorological Department has forecast another round of wet weather in Jammu and Kashmir from March 10. Light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher reaches are expected on March 10 and 11, followed by cloudy conditions on March 12. Another spell of rain and snow is likely on March 13 and 14.
