JAMMU, MAR 01: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, conducted an extensive tour of Bhalwal Tehsil to review agricultural initiatives, revenue services, and the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes in the area.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the Deputy Commissioner inspected ongoing works under the Jal Jeevan Mission and chaired a Pani Samiti meeting at the Water Supply Scheme Asserwan. He interacted with locals and their representatives to assess the quality of water supply and the impact of JJM schemes. During the inspection, he also reviewed the drilling of a tubewell and the construction of a pump room building and sump tank at Karwanda.

In the agriculture sector, the DC evaluated the implementation of various schemes and farming activities of Self Help Groups (SHGs). While inspecting a polyhouse farm in Assarwan Mishriwala, he assessed high-tech vertical farming of turmeric and organic crops such as Kashmiri chilli, guava, and papaya. He also interacted with farmers to gain feedback on the effectiveness of government-backed agricultural initiatives.

Further, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the updation of land records, including Jamabandis, Girdawaris, and other revenue matters. He reviewed the overall functioning of the Tehsil Office Bhalwal, where he was briefed by SDM Jammu North, Athar Amin, and Tehsildar Bhalwal, Monika Sharma.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of timely completion of JJM projects, efficient revenue services, and sustainable farming practices to enhance the livelihood of local farmers and ensure better public services in the region.
