Bad Weather

JAMMU, FEB 28: In light of ongoing heavy rainfall and snowfall causing slippery roads, landslides, and road blockages at multiple locations, the Traffic Police Rural has issued an advisory urging commuters to take necessary precautions while traveling on Friday.

The advisory emphasizes safe driving practices, including reducing speed to match road conditions, using heavy gear on inclines and declines, switching to low beams in foggy conditions, and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles. Motorists are also cautioned against sudden acceleration to avoid skidding and advised to be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists.

The department has further warned against driving through flooded, muddy, or snowbound hilly areas, stressing the importance of ensuring vehicles are in proper working condition, including tyres, brakes, and windshield wipers. Travelers are encouraged to carry essentials like a flashlight, first aid kit, and snacks in case of emergencies.
