New Criminal Laws

JAMMU, FEB 24: The District Administration Jammu has initiated an awareness campaign to educate officials and the public on the newly introduced criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) onMonday.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the campaign, organized under the direction of District Magistrate Jammu, aims to ensure widespread understanding of the new legal framework and its implications. Awareness programs will be held at the block level during the second and fourth weeks of every month.

Today’s sessions were conducted at BDO Office Akhnoor and JKTDC Building Surinsar, with more planned for February 25 at the BDO Office Bhalwal Brahmana, BDO Office Marh, and the Revenue Training Institute Gole Gujral Jammu.

Experts from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the Police Department are serving as resource persons, providing key insights into the changes brought by the new laws. Officials from departments such as Revenue, Rural Development, Social Welfare, School Education, and Health are also participating to ensure comprehensive outreach.

The District Magistrate Jammu will share future session schedules and venues through official Facebook and Twitter (X) handles, keeping the public informed and engaged in the campaign.
