Fire Ravages Seven Houses

BANIHAL, FEB 19: A devastating fire broke out in the Syedpora hamlet of Chamalwas in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, gutting seven residential houses during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, officials said.

The fire started in one house and rapidly spread to adjoining homes, triggering panic in the remote village. Responding swiftly, the Fire and Emergency Services department dispatched several fire tenders, battling the blaze for hours before it was brought under control.

Local volunteers and police joined the firefighting efforts, helping to douse the flames and salvage belongings from the affected homes. Despite their combined efforts, all seven houses were completely gutted, leaving multiple families displaced.

Officials stated that the cause of the fire remains unknown. A case has been registered, and police have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the blaze.

No casualties were reported, but the fire has left the affected families in dire need of assistance.
