Cattle Lifting Gang Busted

JAMMU, FEB 05: In a major breakthrough, Jammu Police in Akhnoor busted a cattle lifting gang and arrested two accused involved in the theft of livestock. The action came after a complaint was lodged by Bulla Ram, son of Munshi Ram, a resident of Tanda, Tehsil Akhnoor, regarding the theft of his buffalo by unidentified persons.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, following the written complaint, an FIR No. 21/2025 under Sections 331(4)/303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Akhnoor. A special investigation team was formed, and an extensive search was launched to trace the culprits.

With the help of technical assistance and sustained efforts, two suspects were identified and taken into police custody. The accused have been identified as: Mohd Amjad, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Khaleti, Nagrota. Nazir Ahmed, son of Allah Rakha, resident of Kot Bhalwal, District Jammu.

During interrogation, both accused confessed to their involvement in the crime. Based on their disclosure, the stolen buffalo was recovered in the presence of the complainant. Additionally, a stolen horse was also recovered on their identification.

The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized, and further investigation is underway. Police sources have indicated that the gang has been involved in multiple cattle theft cases across different areas, and more recoveries are expected as the probe continues.
