Efficient Water Supply

JAMMU, FEB 03: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo has directed the Jal Shakti Department (JSD) to integrate Internet of Things (IoT) technology into water supply management across Jammu and Kashmir to enhance service efficiency on Monday.

Chairing a meeting attended by Additional Chief Secretary Jal Shakti Department, Commissioner Secretary IT, CEO JaKeGA, and other officials, Dulloo emphasized the importance of leveraging advanced technology to monitor and optimize water distribution. He noted that the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has created assets worth thousands of crores to provide drinking water to rural households, making it essential to ensure quality service delivery.

The Chief Secretary stressed that with nearly 19 lakh households set to receive drinking water under JJM, real-time monitoring of water quality, supply pressure, timing, and duration is crucial. He suggested implementing an IoT-based system on a pilot basis in one district before extending it across the Union Territory. He also recommended integrating the system with a dashboard for real-time monitoring and data analysis.

Additional Chief Secretary Jal Shakti Department, Shaleen Kabra, outlined the proposed system, explaining how IoT-enabled pressure sensors, quality sensors, and flow meters, when linked with a central command system, would improve operations and allow timely repairs. He highlighted that this initiative would enhance service efficiency and ensure a reliable water supply for consumers.
