JAMMU, FEB 03: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat Monday to assess the progress of various interventions under SAMAGRA Shiksha and discuss the formulation of the upcoming work plan for Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by MLAs from multiple constituencies, Additional Chief Secretary of the School Education Department (SED), Special Secretary SED, Directors of School Education Kashmir and Jammu, Project Director SAMAGRA Shiksha, Chief Education Officers (CEOs), and other concerned officials.

Emphasizing an inclusive and transparent approach in policy implementation, the Minister directed officers to actively involve elected representatives in planning and decision-making for their respective constituencies. “Public representatives play a crucial role in identifying grassroots issues. Their participation in policy formulation will lead to practical and impactful decisions, ensuring holistic development of the education sector,” she stated.

She further highlighted the importance of coordination between public representatives and project agencies to prevent duplication of works and ensure optimal resource utilization. Reviewing the progress of various educational initiatives under SAMAGRA Shiksha, she stressed the need to address infrastructure gaps, teacher shortages, and the enhancement of digital learning facilities, particularly in rural and remote areas.

The Minister instructed officials to expedite the completion of ongoing projects and improve accountability mechanisms for better execution of schemes. She also emphasized prioritizing underprivileged students and marginalized communities to bridge the educational divide.

During the meeting, the Project Director of SAMAGRA Shiksha presented a detailed report on various interventions and their impact, outlining future strategies for strengthening the education sector across Jammu and Kashmir.
