KATHUA, JAN 31: In a significant operation, the Kathua Police, under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shobhit Saksena (IPS), apprehended three hardcore criminals and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) involved in multiple illegal activities. The accused have been booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) of 1978 to curb their unlawful activities.
According to the police, teams from Police Station Billawar and Police Post Ramkot, led by SHO PS Billawar and IC PP Ramkot under the supervision of SDPO Billawar, carried out the operation on January 31. The arrested individuals were identified as Mohd Rafiq, son of Kalu Khan of Ghar Malti, Ravinder Kumar alias Shanu, son of Sudesh Kumar of Dadwara, and Amrik Chand alias Amrku, son of Kalu Ram of Dharamkot, Tehsil Billawar, District Kathua.
The trio has been implicated in several cases registered at Police Station Billawar and has been actively involved in illegal activities over the past few years. To prevent further disruption in the district, dossiers were prepared against them and submitted to the District Magistrate of Kathua, who subsequently issued detention warrants under the PSA.
The warrants were executed on January 31, and the accused have been lodged in the district jails of Jammu, Rajouri, and Udhampur, respectively. This step aims to deter further illegal activities in the region.
