Drug Peddler Arrested

JAMMU, JAN 14: In a significant move against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Tuesday successfully apprehended a drug peddler and seized 23.59 grams of a Heroin-like substance, believed to be Chitta, from his possession.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the arrest occurred when a police party from Police Post Canal Road, led by ASI Surinder Singh, was performing routine patrolling. A pedestrian, coming from Javed Nagar toward the 4th Tawi Bridge, acted suspiciously upon noticing the police party, which prompted them to apprehend him. During a search, the police recovered the narcotic substance, which the accused later identified as Zuez Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Khrew Pulwama, Kashmir.

Following the recovery, a case was registered under FIR No. 08/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act at Police Station Nowabad. The arrest was made under the supervision of Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO P/S Nowabad, and senior officers including Sh. Ashok Kumar, DSP Headquarters, and Vivek Shekhar, SP City North Jammu.

The public has praised Police for their relentless efforts in tackling the drug menace, urging parents and community members to take an active role in preventing the spread of drugs among the youth.
