DODA, JAN 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Saturday apprehended a hardcore absconder who had been evading arrest for over nine years in Doda district.

According to a statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the accused, identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat, son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, a resident of Nowpora Pain in Beerwah, Budgam district, was wanted in connection with a case registered in 2011 at Police Station Thathri.

SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), revealed that the accused was involved in case FIR No. 09/2011 under sections 420, 465, 466, 467, 468, and 471 of the IPC. After the investigation, the case was presented in court, but the accused absconded, prompting the Court of JMIC Thathri to issue a warrant of arrest under Section 299 CrPC on February 11, 2017.

On the directions of SSP Doda, a special police team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Suresh Kumar, SHO of Police Station Thathri. The accused has been produced before the court and subsequently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah. SSP Mehta emphasized that this arrest is part of a broader special drive launched by Doda Police to apprehend absconders and wanted criminals. Special teams have been deployed across police stations to expedite the process.
