DODA, JAN 07: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Wednesday registered an FIR against the administrator of the controversial Instagram account ‘Bhaderwah Confession’ Page for allegedly defaming individuals by sharing fabricated and malicious content about their personal lives in Bhaderwah area of Doda district.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the action was initiated following several complaints from victims who claimed that the page had shared false stories using their names, causing significant damage to their personal and social reputation. The victims alleged that the defamatory content had adversely affected their relationships and mental well-being.
Acting on the complaints, SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), directed the registration of an FIR under No. 03/2025 at Police Station Bhaderwah. The charges include sections 351(2), 351(3), 351(4), 352, 353 of the BNS Act, and Section 66-D of the IT Act. The investigation into the case has been initiated, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for running the page.
Speaking on the matter, officials stated, “Strict action will be taken against individuals who have shared information with the admin of the page or are involved in such activities. District Police Doda urges the public to refrain from following or engaging with such platforms that thrive on creating controversy and harming individuals’ reputations.”
The District Police assured that they are actively investigating the case and will take stringent measures against those found guilty to prevent the misuse of social media platforms in the future.
