JAMMU, JAN 06: A new initiative titled “Chai with Cop” was held on Monday at Police Station Janipur to foster better police-public relations and ensure effective coordination for maintaining law and order. The program, launched by SDPO City West, aims to create a platform for open interaction and information exchange between law enforcement and the community.
The event, which commenced at 2:30 PM, was led by newly appointed SHO Janipur, Inspector Vikram Sharma. Key members of the locality, including Ganesh Dutt Sharma, Ashok Babbar (Vice President), Raman Bakshi (Chairman), Ramesh Chander Bali (President, Janipur Market Association), Vikshyat Vaid (Secretary), Vishal Verma, Gurnam Singh (NC Block President), and others actively participated in the meeting.
During the discussion, participants raised several concerns, including the need for improved street lighting in drug-prone areas, addressing traffic congestion during evening hours, and enhancing coordination between police and citizens to combat the growing menace of drugs.
Inspector Vikram Sharma expressed gratitude to the attendees and emphasized the importance of community vigilance in ensuring the security of the area. He urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities promptly, particularly in light of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations and the prevailing security scenario.
“Law-abiding citizens are the eyes and ears of the police, and their participation in community policing is not only commendable but also essential in today’s times,” said Inspector Sharma.
Participants were encouraged to maintain regular contact with the police station for resolving grievances and reporting incidents. The initiative underscores the importance of police-community partnerships in enhancing service delivery and fostering trust among citizens.
