POONCH, JAN 04: In a significant operation against the sale of illicit liquor, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Saturday arrested a bootlegger and seized a substantial quantity of illegal alcohol in Surankote.
As per the Police, acting on reliable information, a police team from Surankote Police Station, led by SHO Surankote, conducted a raid on a suspected location on January 4. During the operation, the team apprehended a person selling illicit liquor and recovered 104 bottles of Desi Whisky (180ml each), 22 bottles of Double Cross Whisky (180ml each), and 16 cans of Godfather Beer (500ml each).
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Surankote, Ajaz Choudhary. Following the seizure, an FIR was registered at Surankote Police Station under case numbers 01/2025, invoking sections 48A and 48F of the Excise Act. Investigations are currently underway.
The public has lauded the efforts of Poonch Police for taking effective action against the sale of illicit liquor, ensuring stricter enforcement in the Surankote area.
