Two Drug Peddlers

KATHUA, JAN 04: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Saturday recovered approximately 200 grams of heroin and apprehended two drug peddlers near Peer Baba Beerian Pattan Link Road. The operation was carried out by a police team from Police Post Industrial Estates Kathua.

As per the Police, acting on a tip-off, the team, led by PSI Shubham Mahajan and supervised by DySP Headquarters Manjeet Singh and SHO Kathua Inspector Ajay Singh Chib, set up a checkpoint at the location. During the operation, two individuals, identified as Shab Ali and Sattu, both residents of Chak Handa, Tehsil Marheen, were found in possession of the contraband.

The recovered heroin, weighing 200 grams, along with a Splendor motorcycle, was seized on the spot. The accused were immediately taken into custody. An FIR under case number 04/2025 was registered at Police Station Kathua, invoking sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.

Kathua Police has urged the public to come forward with information about drug-related activities, assuring confidentiality to informants. This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the police to combat the drug menace in the region.
