JAMMU, JAN 03: Under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the Nagrota sub-division, rescuing seven bovines and seizing a vehicle used for the illegal transportation.
As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, a team from the Sidhra Police Post intercepted a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK06B/2419 at the Tawi Bridge naka. The vehicle was traveling from Narwal towards Udhampur when it was stopped for inspection. Taking advantage of the darkness, the driver managed to flee from the scene, abandoning the vehicle and its cargo.
The police rescued seven bovines and seized the vehicle. A case has been registered under FIR No. 03/2025, Sections 223/BNS and 11 of the PCA Act, at Police Station Nagrota. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved.
The public has widely appreciated the consistent and stringent actions taken by the police to curb bovine smuggling in the region.
