JAMMU, DEC 26: Sivani, a student of Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the First Cash Prize of ₹7,000 and a Merit Certificate at the 23rd Veeranna Aivalli Memorial Debate Competition. The prestigious event was held at the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, and organized by the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) J&K Regional Branch, Jammu & Kashmir Police (JKP), and the University of Jammu.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the competition saw participation from 27 teams representing various colleges, university departments, and institutions across the Jammu region. Sivani stood out with her eloquence and persuasive arguments, earning accolades for her exceptional debating skills. Alongside her, Yaseen, also from GDC Bishnah, received a Participation Certificate for his valuable contribution to the event.

The occasion was graced by eminent personalities, including Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Jammu Zone, as the Chief Guest. Prof Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs at Jammu University, and B R Sharma, Chairman of IIPA J&K Regional Branch and State Election Commissioner, served as Guests of Honour. The event was presided over by Dr Ashok Bhan, Former DGP and Patron of IIPA, while Girish Aivalli, son of the late Veeranna Aivalli, also attended to honor his father’s legacy.

The competition aimed to foster meaningful dialogue on significant national issues and bridge the gap between academia, public administration, and civil society. Esteemed adjudicators Prof Indu Kilam, Dr Ashok Gupta, and Prof Komal Nagar evaluated the participants, while Gagandeep Singh Sasan and Ramneet Kour served as rapporteurs.

This remarkable achievement by Sivani and the participation of Yaseen reflect the commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence at GDC Bishnah. Dr Kusum, Head of the Department of Punjabi and Teacher in Charge, accompanied the students, providing invaluable guidance and mentorship that significantly contributed to their success.

The institution proudly celebrates Sivani’s triumph, which serves as an inspiration for future students to strive for excellence and bring laurels to GDC Bishnah.
