JAMMU, DEC 09: The Crime Branch of Jammu has filed three separate charge-sheets against eight individuals accused of duping complainants out of ₹1.55 crore under the pretext of selling land in Jammu that had already been sold to other parties.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the cases were registered following written complaints by Tarsem Singh Chib, a retired Army Havaldar from Preet Nagar, Pankaj Sharma, an active Army personnel from Marh, and Sanjay Choudhary from Shakti Nagar, Jammu. The complainants alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, and fraud after being deceived in transactions involving land parcels in different parts of Jammu.
The Crime Branch conducted comprehensive investigations, collecting both documentary and oral evidence. Expert opinions from the Forensic Science Laboratory were also sought, and scientific methods were employed to substantiate the accusations against the accused. It was found that the accused had conspired to commit fraud, securing significant amounts of money from the complainants for personal gain while causing substantial losses to the victims.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed the details of the charge-sheets submitted for judicial determination. They include: FIR No. 40/2019 under sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B RPC against three accused. FIR No. 45/2024 under sections 420 and 120-B IPC against two accused and FIR No. 58/2022 under sections 420 and 120-B RPC against three accused.
The charge-sheets, meticulously prepared by the Crime Branch, have been presented in the court of law, and the cases now await judicial proceedings.
