SRINAGAR, DEC 06: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday officially announced the winter vacation schedule for government and recognized private schools across the Kashmir division and the winter zones of Jammu division.
As per the order, the copy of which lies with The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the announcement, detailed in Government Order No. 521-JK (Edu) of 2024, establishes a phased approach to the vacations starting December 10.
According to the order, students up to the 5th standard will observe winter vacations from December 10, 2024, to February 28, 2025. For students from 6th to 12th standards, the winter break will commence on December 16, 2024, and also extend until February 28, 2025. The decision accounts for the harsh weather conditions during the winter months while ensuring academic preparedness.
Teaching staff of government high and higher secondary schools are required to report to their respective headquarters starting February 10, 2025, to make preparatory arrangements for the upcoming board examinations for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th. Teachers will also be available to provide online guidance to students during the vacation period. Any failure by heads of institutions or teaching staff to adhere to the schedule will invite strict action under the rules.
