KATHUA, NOV 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday seized six trucks loaded with illicit firewood during late-night checking in the Haria Chak area of PP Marheen in Kathua district.
As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the operation took place during the intervening night of November 28 and 29, 2024, when a police team from PP Marheen conducted a naka checking. The intercepted trucks were identified by their registration numbers: JK02CB-3699, JK02AL-5315, JK12A-1550, JK11F-9584, JK02CA-7687, and JK14E-6042.
Upon inspection, the vehicles were found carrying illicit firewood. The drivers failed to produce any valid documents concerning ownership or transportation permissions for the forest produce.
As a result, the trucks, along with the seized firewood, were handed over to the Forest Department for further action. The operation was conducted under the leadership of IC PP Marheen and was supervised by SDPO Border and SHO PS Rajbagh.
