JAMMU, NOV 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Thursday arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for the last eight (08) years.
As per the police release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, Police apprehended Surjeet Kumar, a resident of Salehar, who had been evading arrest for the last eight years.
The release said that Kumar was wanted in connection with an FIR No. 50/16 under sections 323, 325, 147, and 149 of the RPC, registered at Police Station Bishnah.
The arrest was made by a dedicated team from Police Station Bishnah, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), under the supervision of SDPO R S Pura and SP Headquarters. Kumar had been on the run since 2016, following his involvement in a case of physical assault and unlawful assembly.
“After meticulous planning and sustained efforts, the team managed to track down and apprehend the absconder,” police release stated.
Following his arrest, Kumar is set to be produced in the court of law. The arrest warrant under Section 299 of the BNSS, previously issued against him, will also be executed as part of the legal proceedings.
