04 Drug Peddlers Arrested

REASI, NOV 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Tuesday apprehended four notorious drug peddlers and recovered 9.76 grams of heroin (Chitta) from their possession during a naka checking operation at Sula Naka in Reasi district.

As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, at around 10 PM, a vehicle i20, bearing Registration No JK20A-8100 coming from Katra towards Reasi was intercepted for routine inspection.

Upon thorough checking, heroin was recovered from the occupants, dentified as:
Anil Sharma son of Ram Parkash resident of Nai Basti, Reasi
Shubham Singh son of Kartar Singh resident of Kanjli, Reasi
Vivek Raina son of Narian Dutt resident of Jyotipuram, Reasi
Kamal Kumar son of Om Parkash resident of Mari, Reasi

A case, FIR No. 209/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Reasi. Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individuals.

The release further writes that the operation was planned and executed by SHO Reasi, Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs. Reasi, Neeraj Padyar (JKPS).

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Reasi, Paramvir Singh (JKPS) reiterated the commitment of the Police to eliminate the menace of drug abuse from the District. He emphasized the importance of community support in tackling this societal issue.

“We urge all citizens to join hands with the police in our anti-narcotics drive. Any information related to drug abuse or peddling can be shared on our dedicated anit-drug helpline number 𝟵𝟬𝟳𝟬𝟵𝟬𝟳𝟬𝟭𝟳. The identity of the informer will be kept confidential,” SSP Reasi assured.
