KATHUA, FEB 01: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Saturday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 15 grams of Chitta (heroin) during routine night checking in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district.
As per details available to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the Naka checking was being conducted during night hours when a police team intercepted the suspect. During a thorough search, the accused was found in possession of 15 grams of chitta, following which he was arrested on the spot.
The recovery was made from Rashid Ali, son of Shafiya Mohd, a resident of Pallai, Hiranagar.
The accused has been taken into custody, and a case under FIR No 14/2026 U/s 8/21/22 has been registered at Police Station Hiranagar.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and to identify any other persons involved in the illegal drug network.
