JAMMU, OCT 23: In an effort to fortify community-police cooperation, Thana Diwas was organized today at Police Station City Jammu. Led by SDPO City North and SHO Police Station City, the event gathered prominent citizens, shopkeepers, and representatives from key areas such as Super Bazar, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi, and Raghunath Bazar. The focus of the event was to address issues of public concern and seek community support in maintaining law and order, especially with the upcoming festival season on the horizon.
During the discussions, police urged attendees to provide timely and actionable information to aid in the smooth functioning of the department and prevent untoward incidents. Key directives were issued, particularly to shopkeepers, who were asked to avoid allowing hawkers or vendors to sell goods in front of their shops, a practice causing significant congestion for both pedestrians and vehicles. The participants were also reminded to ensure their CCTV cameras were operational, thus enhancing the security measures in the area.
An important segment of the meeting was dedicated to raising awareness about the rising threat of drug abuse in the region. The police emphasized the importance of a collective effort in combating this growing menace, which poses a serious threat to the youth and the larger society. All citizens were encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking or substance abuse.
Furthermore, the police urged the attendees to promote anti-drug campaigns within their communities, schools, and marketplaces, contributing to creating a safer and healthier environment. The department remains committed to working hand-in-hand with citizens to crack down on illegal drug activities while also supporting rehabilitation initiatives and educational programs to curb addiction.
