JAMMU, NOV 11: Jammu & Kashmir Police (JKP) on Monday successfully recovered 30 lost and stolen smartphones, valued at more than 4 lakh rupees, under the operation “Re-CONNECT.” The operation, spearheaded by Police, culminated in a ceremony where the devices were returned to their rightful owners in Jammu district.
As per the release The Newsroom 24 – Awaz received, the recovery effort, which spanned the past two months, involved a specialized tech team from the Jammu Police Headquarters Zone.
This team worked tirelessly to trace, locate, and recover the smartphones, which had been reported missing across various police stations and border police posts within the Jammu region.
The recovered phones were handed over during a modest yet emotional ceremony at the SP Headquarters office in Jammu.
The event was attended by the SP Hqrs Jammu and SDPO RS Pura, with the atmosphere filled with gratitude as owners were reunited with their valuable devices, many of which contained important personal information and cherished memories.
The devices were returned only after thorough verification of ownership, including identity documents and mobile bills, ensuring they were given back to their lawful owners. The reunion of citizens with their smartphones, many of which had been missing for months or even years, brought immense relief and joy.
During the ceremony, SP Hqrs Jammu took the opportunity to educate the public on the importance of securing communication devices.
He highlighted the need for strong passwords, updated software, remote tracking features, and two-factor authentication as crucial measures to protect personal data and prevent future losses.
