HANDWARA, DEC 05: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Wednesday conducted a Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting at Police Station Handwara. The session, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmed (JKPS), saw active participation from community members, including religious leaders, trade federation representatives, Numberdars, and Chowkidars.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the meeting also had the presence of SDPO Handwara, Hamid Ali (JKPS), SHO PS Handwara, Inspector Showkat Ahmad, and other officers. The attendees voiced several issues of public interest, ranging from local development to concerns about law and order.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Mushtaq Ahmed emphasized the importance of such engagements to foster trust and seek public input for effective policing. “These meetings help us better understand community needs and garner valuable suggestions for improving our services. We will ensure that issues raised here are communicated to the relevant authorities for swift resolution,” he said.
He further urged the public to assist the police in maintaining law and order by identifying anti-national and anti-social elements that disrupt the region’s peace. On the pressing issue of drug abuse, SSP Ahmed assured the participants of continued strict action against drug peddlers, stressing the critical role of public cooperation in tackling the menace.
The event concluded on a positive note, with attendees expressing gratitude to the police for organizing the meeting and appreciating their efforts to address community concerns proactively.
