BIJBEHARA, OCT 12: In a significant operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled a major interstate drug trafficking network in Bijbehara by arresting three individuals involved in the illicit trade. The arrests were made following an operation based on credible intelligence regarding the transportation of narcotic drugs from Delhi to Srinagar.
According to a police statement, multiple checkpoints were set up by Bijbehara Police along the suspected route after receiving a tip-off about a drug consignment. During the operation, a Toyota car was intercepted at Doonipora, Bijbehara, with three suspects onboard.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Monty Singh, a resident of Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh, and Ashish Bardawaj and Rahul, both residents of Chhatarpur, New Delhi. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered 413 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (NRX), branded as Codril-T, hidden inside the car’s door panels.
All three suspects were taken into custody and are currently being held at the Bijbehara Police Station. Preliminary investigations suggest that the narcotics were intended for delivery in Sopore and Srinagar.
Further investigations led to multiple raids by Bijbehara Police, resulting in the detention of a local smuggler from Sopore for questioning. Coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in New Delhi led to a subsequent raid at a warehouse in Noida’s Sector 135, where a large quantity of Codeine was seized.
The police have also identified two key individuals behind the drug racket: Sachin Rana and Arun Rana, both residents of Faridabad. Efforts to apprehend them are ongoing, and police expect further arrests as the investigation continues. This operation has exposed both the forward and backward linkages of the interstate drug network, dealing a significant blow to the drug trafficking operations in the region.
