SAMBA, OCT 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday arrested two individuals in possession of approximately 8.60 grams of heroin-like substance.
As per the Police release, the arrests were made during a vehicle check near the Tata Showroom at Barian Supwal under the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba.
A team from Police Post Supwal, led by the Incharge of the post and supported by the SHO of Police Station Samba, set up a vehicle checkpoint (naka) near the Tata Showroom. During the inspection, a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AJ-7220 was intercepted as it approached from the showroom toward the National Highway. Upon checking, officers found the heroin-like substance in the possession of the two suspects, identified as Ashwani Kumar, son of Surinder Kumar, and Gulshan Verma, son of Ram Dass, both residents of Vijaypur.
The police have seized the contraband, and both accused individuals are currently in custody. An FIR (No. 279/2024) has been filed under sections 8/21/22/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Samba, and further investigations are underway to uncover any broader links to drug trafficking in the region.
