BARAMULLA, OCT 11: In a continued effort to combat the menace of drugs, Sopore Police arrested a drug peddler and seized contraband substances during a patrol in Rafiabad. The police action took place at Hadipora Laiser Crossing, where a suspect was apprehended on Saturday.

According to officials, a police party from Police Post Watergam, led by SI Bilal Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shri Aabid Rashid Mir (JKPS) and SHO PS Dangiwacha Inspector Khalid Aslam, was patrolling the area when they intercepted Mehraj ud Din Mir, son of Abdul Khaliq Mir, a resident of Chijhama, Rafiabad.

During the search, police recovered 32 grams of a charas-like contraband substance from Mehraj’s possession. Following the arrest, a case was registered under FIR No. 66 at Police Station Dangiwacha, and an investigation has been initiated under relevant sections of law.

Sopore Police has urged the public to provide information regarding narcotics or any other criminal activities by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112. They appealed for cooperation from the community in their mission to eradicate drugs from the region.

“We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law,” a police spokesperson stated, reinforcing their commitment to tackling the drug menace in Baramulla and surrounding areas.
