JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 08: A young handball player from the remote border village of Pallanwalla in Jammu district has brought laurels to his village, Jammu region and the whole Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by winning a gold medal at the 1st Indo-Nepal Handball Series, held from September 4 to 6, 2026.
The achievement by Yuv Partap Singh has been widely appreciated by his family and the local community, particularly as he hails from a border area where residents often face challenging circumstances.
Speaking to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, Yuv’s father Vinay Bhau, who is serving in the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and was also a handball player during his younger days, expressed immense pride over his son’s achievement.
“We live in a border village, where many times the situation becomes very crucial, but his achievement has brought immense pride not only to our village but to the whole Jammu region and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” Bhau said.
He said he wants his son to continue pursuing handball at the highest level and eventually represent India on the international stage.
Bhau further expressed hope that Yuv’s achievement would inspire other youngsters from remote and border areas to take up sports and work towards bringing recognition to their communities and the country.
Yuv’s gold medal at the Indo-Nepal Handball Series marks a proud moment for Pallanwalla and adds another inspiring sporting achievement to Jammu and Kashmir’s growing sports landscape.
