SRINAGAR, AUGUST 31: Authorities in Tral on Saturday have issued a notice to Surinder Singh, the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate, for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during his campaign. The notice, issued by Returning Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sub-District Tral, Sajid Yehaya Naqash, cites videographic evidence showing Singh’s use of vehicles equipped with public address systems and banners without prior permission.
Singh has been given 24 hours to respond in writing, failing which legal action may be initiated against him.

Singh and his party, as per the notice, were accused of using vehicles fitted with public address systems and banners for campaigning without seeking prior permission, a direct contravention of MCC guidelines.
Keeping in view the seriousness of the violation and directions, Surinder Singh, through the medium of notice, was asked to respond in writing within 24 hours to explain why no action should be taken against him and his party.
“Failure to respond within the stipulated time may result in the initiation of legal proceedings”, it further read.
