Kathua, September 9: A Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) posted at a police station in Kathua district has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after he was allegedly found behaving under the influence of an intoxicating substance on police station premises, officials said.
According to official case details, PSI Amjid Khan (GEC No. 245791) was noticed behaving in a manner that allegedly indicated consumption of an intoxicating or narcotic substance.
Following the incident, the officer was medically examined at SDH Hiranagar, where a drug-testing kit was used as part of the examination.
The medical test reportedly indicated the consumption of a narcotic/contraband substance, following which police initiated legal proceedings against the officer.
Officials said FIR No. 97/2026 has been registered at the concerned police station under Sections 8/27 of the NDPS Act.
The investigation into the case has been entrusted to PSI Rajat Jasrotia.
Further details regarding the substance allegedly consumed and the outcome of the investigation are awaited.
