Samba, September 8: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Tejinder Singh, IPS, on Monday visited Samba district for the first time and reviewed the overall security and policing arrangements in the district.
The IGP was accompanied by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shridhar Patil, IPS, and held an introductory meeting with senior police officers and supervisory staff of Samba Police.
During the meeting, SSP Samba Anuj Kumar, IPS, briefed the visiting officers about the overall functioning of the district police, including the prevailing security situation, crime scenario, anti-narcotics operations, border security and operational preparedness.
Addressing the meeting, IGP Jammu stressed the need to further strengthen preventive and intelligence-based policing across the district.
He also emphasised effective supervision of naka duties and adequate security arrangements at police establishments and other vulnerable locations.
The IGP directed officers to maintain close monitoring of criminals, gangsters, over-ground workers (OGWs) and drug peddlers, while stressing the importance of effective follow-up and investigation of cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The visit focused on strengthening coordination among police units and enhancing the district’s preparedness to deal with emerging security and law-and-order challenges.
