Jammu, August 26: Jammu Police has intensified its crackdown on the sale, storage and use of banned and hazardous Chinese Plastic Manja (Gattu), with three persons booked and eight rolls of the prohibited thread seized by Police Station Janipur.
Acting on reliable information, a police team from Police Station Janipur apprehended three persons identified as:
1. Manish Singh, son of Jawahar Singh, resident of Toph Sherkhania, Janipur, Jammu.
2. Dinesh Rokaya, son of Prakash Rokaya, resident of Toph Sherkhania, Janipur, Jammu.
3. Arjun, son of Gansham Rai, resident of Mandleeknagar, Janipur, Jammu.
During the course of the investigation, police recovered and seized eight rolls of banned Chinese Plastic Manja (Gattu) from the accused persons.
The sale, storage and use of Chinese Manja have been prohibited by the competent authorities due to the serious threat posed by the hazardous synthetic thread. Its sharp and non-biodegradable nature can cause serious injuries and even fatalities to pedestrians, two-wheeler riders and children, while also posing a significant danger to birds and other animals.
In connection with the recovery, FIR Nos. 156/2026 and 157/2026 have been registered at Police Station Janipur under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to protecting public safety and enforcing prohibitory orders against the sale, storage, transportation and use of banned Chinese Manja.
Police warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the prohibitory orders.
The general public has also been urged to cooperate with the police and immediately report information regarding the sale, storage or use of banned Chinese Manja to the nearest police station.
