JAMMU, AUGUST 24: AIIMS Jammu is set to enter a new phase of leadership with the appointment of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Sinha, Professor in the Department of Medicine at AIIMS New Delhi, as its new Executive Director and CEO.
Prof. Sinha has joined AIIMS Jammu on deputation from AIIMS New Delhi and brings extensive experience in clinical care, medical education, academic training and research. His appointment is expected to provide further impetus to the institution’s academic and healthcare development.
According to AIIMS Jammu, his leadership will focus on strengthening clinical services, enhancing the quality of medical education, promoting high-quality research and innovation, and encouraging greater interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty and students.
The institution also expects the new leadership to further promote evidence-based clinical practices and research-oriented healthcare while strengthening AIIMS Jammu as a centre of excellence in medical education, patient care and scientific research.
The appointment of Prof. Sinha as Executive Director, AIIMS Jammu, has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for a period of three years from the date he assumes charge, or until he attains the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The leadership transition comes with the conclusion of the tenure of Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma, who assumed charge as Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu on January 10, 2026.
AIIMS Jammu acknowledged Prof. Sharma’s contribution and leadership during his tenure, particularly as the institution continued its development and expansion of healthcare, academic and institutional activities.
The AIIMS Jammu fraternity also extended a warm welcome to Prof. Sinha and expressed confidence that his experience and vision would provide fresh momentum to the institution’s ongoing journey towards academic excellence, advanced healthcare, research and innovation.
