Jammu, June 8:
To strengthen the ability to deal with emergency situations and enhance passenger safety, Jammu Division today took an important step. A special guidance booklet titled ‘Disaster Management and Fire Safety Action Plan’ has been released by the Division.
The booklet was released by Shri Vivek Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager. On this occasion, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Senior Divisional Safety Officer and members of the Division Safety team were also present.
Objective of the Booklet:
This booklet has been prepared for Jammu Division and the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link USBRL Project. It contains detailed information on quick action during disasters, fire safety measures, evacuation plans, communication systems and the role of staff. Now all essential instructions will be available to employees at one place.
Officials said:
Divisional Railway Manager Shri Vivek Kumar said that passenger safety is our top priority. This booklet will help employees take quick and correct decisions during emergencies. He further added that along with the plan on paper, regular practice is also necessary. We will keep conducting mock drills from time to time. This booklet clearly mentions emergency numbers, fire safety steps and the responsibilities of every department. This will avoid confusion during a disaster.
Through this booklet, Jammu Division is further strengthening its commitment to ‘Safe Journey, Safe Destination’. We will continue to take new steps for passenger safety.
