In a major relief for summer travelers, the Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has announced the temporary addition of extra coaches to two major trains connecting Jammu and Kashmir with New Delhi.
The decision comes in response to a massive surge in passenger traffic and rapidly growing waiting lists due to the ongoing summer holiday season.
Boost for Delhi-Bound Travelers
According to an official press release issued by the Jammu Division on May 28, 2026, the temporary augmentations will target the highly popular Jammu Rajdhani and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – New Delhi Express. The move is expected to significantly improve the chances of waitlisted passengers getting confirmed berths.
The specific details of the additional coaches include:

Train No. 12426 (Jammu Tawi – New Delhi) Rajdhani Express: Will be temporarily augmented with one additional Third AC (3AC) coach from June 6, 2026, to June 12, 2026.

Train No. 04082 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – New Delhi Express): Will be temporarily augmented with one additional Sleeper Class coach from June 6, 2026, to June 13, 2026.

Commenting on the proactive measure, Shri Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, emphasized the railway’s focus on commuter comfort:
“Passenger convenience is our highest priority. In view of the growing demand during the summer season, the decision has been taken to add additional coaches to 12426 Jammu Rajdhani and 04082. This will provide relief to thousands of passengers. Passengers are requested to plan their journeys and make reservations as soon as possible.”
