Jammu, March 27:

High drama unfolded in the winter capital today as thousands of youth, led by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State President Arun Prabhat, marched toward the Civil Secretariat in a massive “Chalo Secretariat” demonstration. The protest, aimed at the Omar Abdullah-led NC government, centered on two primary grievances: the persistent demand for a National Law University (NLU) in Jammu and allegations of a “backdoor job scam” involving 24,000 positions.

“This is Just the Trailer”

Addressing a mammoth gathering that stretched from Indira Chowk to the gates of the Legislative Assembly, Arun Prabhat issued a blistering ultimatum to the Chief Minister.

“Today’s ‘Chalo Secretariat’ is just a trailer,” Prabhat declared. “If the legitimate aspirations of Jammu’s youth remain unfulfilled, CM Omar Abdullah must be prepared for a mass youth agitation that will span every corner of the Jammu region.”

Prabhat highlighted that for the past two months, youth have been peacefully protesting for an NLU in Jammu, yet the CM has maintained a “conspicuous silence.” He termed the demand “legitimate and just,” warning that time was running out for the government to act.

The 24,000 Jobs Controversy

The BJYM leader also lambasted the government over the alleged “sale” of 24,000 jobs through backdoor channels. Prabhat claimed this move directly contradicts Chapter 12 of the NC’s 2024 Election Manifesto, which promised a comprehensive and transparent job package.

Key Questions Raised by BJYM:

  • Recruitment Process: Was there any formal advertisement, written examination, or interview process for these 24,000 roles?

  • Transparency: Who are the companies or agencies involved in the recruitment mechanism?

  • Security: Concerns were raised regarding the lack of CID verification for these new hires in a sensitive region like Jammu & Kashmir.

Political Heavyweights Join the Fray

The protest saw a significant show of strength from the BJP leadership, with several prominent MLAs joining the youth on the streets:

  • Sh. Yudhvir Sethi (Jammu East)

  • Sh. Vikram Randhawa (Bahu)

  • Sh. Arvind Gupta (Jammu West)

  • Sh. Surinder Kumar (Marh)

  • Sushri Devyani Rana (Nagrota)

  • Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj (Ramnagar)

  • Sushri Shagun Parihar (Kishtwar)

Also in attendance were Smt. Neha Mahajan (Mahila Morcha President), Sh. Brahmjyot Satti (OBC Morcha President), and Sh. Ranjodh Singh Nalwa (Minority Morcha President), signaling a unified front against the current administration’s policies.

In his concluding remarks, Arun Prabhat assured the youth that the BJYM remains committed to this “battle for rights” until it reaches a decisive conclusion. With the Budget Session currently underway, the “Chalo Secretariat” march has successfully turned the spotlight onto regional parity and employment transparency, setting the stage for a potentially volatile summer of protests.
