Jammu, March 5:

In a significant move to accommodate the heavy passenger rush and clear mounting waiting lists, Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has announced the addition of an extra coach to the prestigious Train No. 12426 Jammu-New Delhi Rajdhani Express.

The decision, aimed at enhancing passenger convenience during the upcoming peak travel season, was finalized under the direction of Mr. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM).

Boosting Capacity: 72 Extra Berths per Trip

The temporary augmentation of the train will see the addition of one Air-Conditioned Third Class (3AC) coach. This move is expected to provide approximately 72 additional confirmed berths per trip, offering much-needed relief to travelers who have been struggling with long waiting lists.

Key Schedule and Details

According to the official press release issued by Public Relations Inspector Raghvender Singh, the additional coach will be operational on specific dates:

  • Train Name: 12426 Jammu-New Delhi Rajdhani Express

  • Coach Class: Third AC (3AC)

  • Effective Dates: March 7 and March 14, 2026

  • Objective: To manage increased traffic during festivals and the peak travel season.

Commenting on the development, Sr. DCM Uchit Singhal emphasized the railway’s commitment to a seamless travel experience.

“Jammu Division is dedicated to providing a superior travel experience. The addition of this extra coach to the Rajdhani Express not only increases capacity but ensures passengers enjoy modern safety and comfort features. We want to ensure a smooth, hassle-free journey even during the busiest seasons,” Singhal stated.
