Jammu, Feb 17:

In a relentless pursuit to dismantle the financial foundations of drug syndicates, the Udhampur Police has attached movable property worth approximately ₹30 lakhs belonging to a notorious inter-district narco-peddler from Srinagar.

The attachment, carried out under the stringent provisions of Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, marks another high-profile success in the police’s ongoing ‘War on Drugs’.

The Target: Aijaz Ahmad Dar

The accused, identified as Aijaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar and a resident of Gulab Bagh, Srinagar, is currently lodged in District Jail Udhampur under judicial custody.

Investigation into FIR No. 28/2026 (registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act) revealed that Dar had utilized the “ill-gotten” proceeds from his narcotics trade to purchase a luxury vehicle.

Key Assets Seized: Vehicle (Innova Crysta), Registration No. (JK01AX-8441) and Estimated Value (₹30 Lakhs).

A History of Crime: Multiple FIRs Uncovered

The police investigation has further exposed Dar’s extensive criminal footprint across the Kashmir valley. The accused is a repeat offender with multiple active cases against him:

  1. FIR No. 23/2022: Registered at P/S Zakoora (Srinagar) under Sections 8/20/29 NDPS Act.

  2. FIR No. 30/2025: Registered at P/S Zadibal (Srinagar) under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act.

Officials stated that the attachment of the vehicle serves as a direct message to those involved in the drug trade that their assets—not just their freedom—are at risk.

Strategic Milestone: ₹2.10 Crore in 2026

With this latest attachment, Udhampur Police has hit a major milestone in 2026. The total value of drug-related properties attached so far this year has reached a staggering ₹2.10 crore.

“Our strategy is simple: Hit them where it hurts most—their finances. By attaching properties purchased through ‘blood money,’ we are effectively breaking the backbone of these narcotics networks,” said a senior official from the Udhampur Police.

What is Section 68-F?

Under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, police have the power to “freeze” or “seize” property if they have reason to believe it was illegally acquired through drug trafficking. This ensures that traffickers cannot sell or hide their assets while their legal trial is ongoing.
