Jammu, Feb 3:

A severe road accident on the Shahdara Sharief road left at least four people injured on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred near the Government Degree College (GDC) Thanamandi, involving a head-on collision between a motorcycle and an Alto car.

The Incident

According to official reports provided to GNS, the high-impact collision took place during the early hours of Tuesday. Local bystanders immediately rushed to the aid of the victims as the Alto car and the motorcycle sustained significant damage.

Medical Response and Referrals

First responders and locals shifted all four injured individuals to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Thanamandi. However, due to the nature of their injuries, medical officers at the PHC referred the victims to the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri for advanced surgical and specialized treatment.

Administration on Site

Promptly after the report, senior administration officials visited the crash site to supervise the situation and ensure the smooth flow of traffic on the busy Shahdara Sharief route. The team included:

  • Naib Tehsildar Mehmood * Senior officers from the local Police Department

The police have taken cognizance of the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collision, whether due to overspeeding or the narrowness of the stretch near the college.

The Shahdara Sharief road often experiences heavy footfall due to the proximity of the Degree College and the famous shrine. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution and maintain speed limits in educational zones.
