Jammu, Jan 28:
In a significant move to address the rising concerns over mental health in educational institutions, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has officially constituted District-Level Monitoring Committees across all districts. The initiative is designed to create a robust safety net for students and curb the tragic trend of student suicides.
According to a formal order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), these committees will serve as the primary bodies for monitoring, coordinating, and implementing mental health protection measures at the grassroots level.
The Committee Hierarchy
To ensure high-level accountability and cross-departmental synergy, each committee will be led by the district’s top administration. The Deputy Commissioner will serve as the Chairperson, while the other members will include the Chief Education Officer (CEO), the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the District Social Welfare Officer, and a representative from civil society.
Key Improvements Made:
-
Articles: Added “The” before titles (e.g., The Deputy Commissioner) to make it formally correct.
-
Conciseness: Changed “top administration of the district” to “the district’s top administration” for a smoother read.
-
Clarity: Added the full titles for CEO and CMO to ensure the reader understands their specific roles within the committee.
-
Punctuation: Improved the sentence structure to clearly distinguish between the head of the committee and its members.
