Jammu,
In a significant move toward community-oriented policing, the Jammu Police today held an extensive interaction with students and faculty at the Madrasa Husainiyan Nizamiyan Educational Charitable Trust in Bathindi.
The initiative, part of an ongoing outreach program launched by SSP Jammu, aimed to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the youth while fostering a sense of national pride and social responsibility.
Education as a Shield Against Social Evils
Leading the session, SP City South Jammu, accompanied by SDPO City East and ICPP Bathindi, addressed a gathering of nearly 60 students. The core of the discussion centered on how education and “Right Knowledge” act as the primary tools for shaping responsible citizens.
The SP emphasized that modern policing is as much about mentoring as it is about enforcement. Key topics discussed included:
-
Nationalism & Duty: The role of every individual in nation-building.
-
Character Building: The importance of compassion, humanity, and moral values.
-
Active Citizenship: Encouraging students to be the “eyes and ears” of the police by reporting suspicious activities.
“Modern policing involves guiding our youth toward a disciplined life. Education and ethical conduct are the strongest defenses against the path of crime,” stated SP South during the address.
A Call for Vigilance and Safety
Beyond moral guidance, the police team sensitized the local community on practical security measures. The officials urged residents and Madrasa management to prioritize:
-
Tenant Verification: Ensuring all rentals are documented for communal safety.
-
CCTV Surveillance: Enhancing local security through technology.
-
Drug Prevention: A stern warning against the growing menace of drug abuse and other social evils.
Community Leaders Pledge Support
The program saw active participation from the Madrasa staff and local leaders, including Ch. Zain Din, Hafiz Manzoor Ahmed, and Mufti Azhar-ud-Din.
The religious scholars addressed the students, reaffirming their commitment to teaching a curriculum that balances spiritual growth with national unity. They pledged to guide their pupils away from anti-social activities and toward a life of devotion and self-discipline.
Building Trust
The event concluded with a collective resolve to maintain a “trust-based” relationship between the police and educational institutions. By engaging directly with students in Bathindi, the Jammu Police continues to reinforce its commitment to a safer, more unified society through dialogue and mutual cooperation.
