Srinagar, January 14:

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially released the results for the Class 12 Annual Regular (Winter Zone) examinations this afternoon, January 14, 2026. Education officials confirmed an impressive 85% pass rate, marking a significant achievement for students across the Kashmir division, winter zones of Jammu, and the UT of Ladakh.

The announcement came shortly after the Class 10 results were declared earlier this morning, which saw a nearly identical success rate of 84%.

The 2025-26 academic session saw tens of thousands of students appearing for examinations that were conducted under a unique 15% syllabus relaxation policy.

The high qualifying marks are being attributed, in part, to a proactive decision by the BOSE Director of Academics. Due to a series of academic disruptions, students were only required to attempt 85% of the total marks, which was then scaled to 100%.

Key reasons for the 15% syllabus reduction included:

  • Climate Disruptions: Torrential rains, cloudbursts, and floods during the peak academic months.

  • Heatwaves: Extreme temperatures earlier in the session that led to school closures.

  • Delayed Calendar: A late start to the academic session necessitated a lighter workload for students in the Kashmir and Winter Zone regions.

In a move to streamline the process, Education Minister Sakina Itoo fast-tracked the results, ensuring both major board classes received their scores on the same day.

“This synchronized declaration is intended to provide a ‘sigh of relief’ to students and parents who have been waiting anxiously. Our focus remains on the mental well-being of the students after a challenging year,” a board official stated.

The results were approved by a special Result Declaration Committee (RDC), as the permanent Chairman position for JKBOSE currently remains vacant. Minister Itoo has indicated that a permanent appointment will follow shortly now that the results are public.
